About us
Peshwai nauwar is the brainchild of Padma Sahasrabudhe. She is an expert fashion designer and has stitched various clothes for kids, men and women. In one of the family weddings in year 1994, she thought to make a Nauwari saree for her then 7 year old daughter, and what an idea that was! That chakuli nauwar got so much appreciation that Padma started getting orders for not just little girls but women too! That little idea in 1994 has become a flourishing business today called – Peshwai Nauwar.
Peshwai Nauwar was among the top 3 finalists in the prestigious Vidarbha Industries Association’s Women Entrepreneur Award in 2019!

Our Style
The draping style in which our Peshwai style Nauwari is stitched was the style of Peshwa women or Brahmin women during the Maratha Empire, hence the name Peshwai. A Nauwari saree is worn at households by Marathi women during religious functions, weddings or for everyday use.
As most of the older generation of Nauwari wearing women is no more with us, it becomes all the more important to let the younger generation know the correct style of a Nauwari saree. There are many stitched nauwaris in the market today which look like dhoti with pallu, some have the kashta (vertical border at the backside) in the front or have weird one size fit all stitching . Unfortunately many unaware women buy them.
Our Peshwai Nauwaris are so neat and authentic that nobody can find out that it stitched, not draped! Also, it is extremely comfortable, one can wear it the whole day without any awkwardness.
Our Team
In the leadership of Padma Sahasrabudhe, Peshwai Nauwar has an all women team of 5 designers. 6 stitching experts, 1 technical expert. Along with this online store, we have physical stores in Nagpur – our main center and Ville Parle, Mumbai.
