The draping style used in Peshwai style Nauwar is typically worn by Marathi women of Brahmin community. This was also the draping style of Brahmin  Peshwa women during Maratha empire, hence the name Peshwai. Distinctive feature of this style is an Ocha (curved pleats) at front of the nauwari saree.

Mastani nauwari is a new style in the traditional Nauwari, making it very popular with younger generation. Mastani nauwaris have zig zag pleated ocha(curved pleats at front) rather than the curved as in Peshwai style.
